Fractional CTO with a team: how UK providers compare
A fractional CTO makes the technical decisions a full-time CTO would, part time. Most provide advice only. A smaller group also supplies the team to build what they decide. This compares six UK providers in that group, on what each publishes about itself, as of October 2026. We are one of the six, so read this knowing that.
The six, side by side

| Foresight Mobile (Manchester) | Fractional CTO with a mobile delivery squad | CTO from £95 an hour; build priced separately | Squad within 48 hours | Not stated |
| Storm Consultancy (Bath) | Fractional CTO with a Rails development team | Not published | Not stated | Not stated |
| Bit Zesty (London) | Embedded fractional CTO with a multi-disciplinary squad | Not published | Not stated | ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus |

| OD3X Systems | UK fractional CTO and project manager with a dedicated team; phone systems, numbers and certification when needed | Builds from £3,000 a month; part equity considered | Prototypes and MVPs start within 24 hours | None in OD3X's own name; the CX Assist platform we built holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and a SOC 2 Type 1 attestation |
How to choose between them
- If you want a defined package at a fixed monthly price, Metamindz publishes the clearest one.
- If your product is a mobile app, Foresight Mobile's squad is built for it.
- If your stack is Ruby on Rails, Storm Consultancy specialises in it.
- If your buyers will ask for the developer's own certificates, Bit Zesty holds them.
- If budget is tight and you want to iterate monthly, The Random Stuff and OD3X both start at £3,000 a month.
- If the product needs phones, numbers, regulated data or certification, OD3X is the one built for that.
Questions to ask any of them
- Who exactly will be my CTO, and will they review the code every week?
- How many people will build the product, and are they dedicated to it?
- Who owns the code, documents and cloud accounts, and from when?
- Can I stop, and what do I keep?
- Can I bring development in-house later, and will you help?
